How LG’s Cutting-Edge Healthcare Technologies Are Helping Access Quality Medical Care

In a recent Q&A session, Moh’d AlFar, Senior Director of Business Development, explained how LG Electronics Medical Device Business Solutions is committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare technologies to help facilities make in the face of this change and to accelerate the deployment of quality care.

What are your technologies in the health sector?

With the rapid changes in the healthcare industry, the demand for telemedicine will only continue to grow. LG’s latest innovations exemplify the ability of technology to enable more accurate diagnosis, treatment and overall patient care. LG’s diagnostic monitor features a large 21.3-inch 3MP IPS screen that facilitates accurate review of X-ray images and mammography. With LG’s Multi-Resolution Mode, users can adjust the monitor resolution to optimize the connected device quickly and easily.

In pathology mode, the 21HQ513D reproduces the same level of detail and color accuracy as seen directly under a microscope. Downlight and wall modes, plus an automatic luminance sensor, reduce contrast between monitor brightness and ambient lighting conditions, easing eye strain. LG’s 21HQ513D diagnostic monitor is built-in 5 shortcut keys for more intuitive operation.

Additionally, LG’s 14 x 17-inch digital X-ray detector (model 14HQ901G) features an oxide-based thin-film transistor (TFT) with electron transfer rates up to 30 times faster than a conventional TFT. The 14HQ901G also improves the detection quantum efficiency (DQE) of the new oxide-based TFT by 28% at just 1 Ip/mm, compared to standard a-Si detectors.

The company’s 31-inch 12MP IPS Mammography Diagnostic Monitor (Model 31HN713D) features LG’s Multi-Resolution Mode, Pathology Mode and Auto-Calibration. Its One-Click stand and ultra-lightweight body allow users to freely adjust tilt, height, and swivel, reducing chronic pain caused by long hours of work.

Suffice it to say, LG Business Solutions is committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare technologies to help institutions navigate this change and accelerate the deployment of quality care.

Which local institutions use your products?

LG’s medical devices were first launched globally in 2016 and, after global success, entered the Middle East and Africa market in 2018. Examples include working with major manufacturers KARL STORZ, PENTAX Medical and GE Healthcare endoscopes and imaging. Today, a number of medical institutions use LG’s advanced technologies.

Additionally, LG partners with leading healthcare manufacturers and organizations such as Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital, Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, and more.

What are your future prospects for the health sector?

LG Business Solutions is committed to providing cutting-edge healthcare technologies to help institutions navigate this change and accelerate the deployment of quality care. LG offers a strong team of engineers and sales professionals to help healthcare facilities determine which technologies best meet their workflow requirements.

In addition to undergoing rigorous quality assurance testing, each LG medical display has been meticulously measured and calibrated to meet strict DICOM Part 14 guidelines. This is one of the steps we take to ensure accuracy and trust with our stakeholders.

Our solutions are also designed to be highly practical, hygienic and easy to transport in different healthcare environments. Recently, LG showcased its latest innovations in the medical display market at Arab Health 2022, illustrating the technology’s ability to enable accurate diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive patient care.

How has the landscape of medical displays changed in the wake of the pandemic and the rise of hybrid work models?

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on the medical community. Hospitals, doctors’ offices and clinics have found themselves overwhelmed with scans, having to change workflows to simultaneously keep healthcare workers and patients safe. Looking ahead to the next phases of the pandemic and beyond, physicians will need to re-examine their workflows, optimize processes and improve patient care. By using rapidly evolving communication technology, remote health care services have improved dramatically in quantity and quality. This is due to the need to review data remotely and diagnostic inaccuracies caused by poor image displays as well as the difficulty of using medical displays while hospitals perform device maintenance.

What is LG’s vision and strategy for this part of the business?

LG Business Solutions aims to provide cutting-edge healthcare technologies to help institutions navigate this change and accelerate the deployment of quality care. Hospitals need display technology in various areas such as the consulting room, X-ray room, and operating room. LG provides optimal medical display considering the needs of different hospital users.

The excellent quality of LG products accurately represents medical images and various practical user-designed functions that help medical personnel. Through compliance and certification to medical device standards, LG products consistently and reliably deliver superior image quality. Going forward, LG plans to create synergy with stakeholders in the digital medical imaging industry.

How does the medical display business fit into LG’s overall goal of advancing health and hygiene in the B2B space?

LG is committed to helping medical intuitions navigate this journey, offering tailored consultations and a full suite of solutions to facilitate accurate diagnosis and care. LG has years of experience in display technology. Its product line includes monitors, laptops, projectors, cloud devices and medical displays. A pioneer in health technologies, this enables LG not only to meet the needs of vertical market targets but also those of consumers in general.

With the rapid changes in the healthcare industry, the demand for telemedicine has steadily increased. Telehealth solutions have evolved from a temporary measure to clear, long-term benefits in terms of safety, convenience and accessibility. With this, the demand for diagnostic imaging equipment has peaked, as has the complementary nature of the requirement for advanced medical monitors and digital X-ray detectors.

With improved image quality, LG medical products can improve customers’ productivity levels and help medical partners’ businesses by constantly developing in step with cutting-edge technology.
