30 tons of medical aid deployed in Ukraine

Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 340 medical aid shipments requested in 31 U.S. states and territories and 17 countries worldwideIncluding Ukraine.

The shipments contained 17.9 million defined daily doses of drugsincluding Covid-19 therapies, diabetes medications, cancer treatments, as well as 30 tons of medical aid for Ukraine in response to calls for help from the country’s Ministry of Health.

Deliveries to Ukraine contained IV fluids, PPE, insulin syringes, sutures, field medic packets with items requested for triage care during mass casualty events.

On Friday, Direct Relief channeled a donation of cancer treatment therapies, chronic disease medications and other medications requested in Europe at the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. The organization continues to direct medical inventories in Europe to the conflict zone.

Since the start of the conflict in late February, Direct Relief has sent more than $10 million in medical aid to Ukraine. Deliveries include therapies Covid-19, essential drugs to manage chronic diseases, oxygen concentrators, inhalers, backpacks field doctor with articles yard care, including applying tourniquets combat and supplies for wound care.

Since last year, Direct Relief has shipped over 55 tons of requested medicines worth $37.9 millionincluding monoclonal antibody treatments for patients with Covid-19.

The organization also focuses on mobilizing cold chain medicines, including insulin, for people in Ukraine managing diabetes and meeting the health needs of displaced people. More than 2.5 million people have fled Ukraine, according to UNHCR data.

Direct Relief is deploying emergency medical aid, ranging from oxygen concentrators to intensive care medication, while preparing for longer-term assistance to those displaced or affected by war in Ukraine.

This week, 3.8 million AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Toluca, Mexico, a gift from the US government to the Government of Mexico, with logistics supported by Direct Relief.

The organization has supported the transfer of charitable over 17 million Covid-19 vaccines during the past nine months between the governments of North and Central America and the Caribbean.

This week, outside the United States, Direct Relief has shipped over 17.6 million defined daily doses drugs totaling 727,763 pounds.

  • Faith Family Medical Clinic, Tennessee


Since January 1, 2022, Direct Relief has delivered 3,684 deliveries for 1,185 health establishments in 51 US states and territories and 60 countries.

These shipments contained 71.2 million defined daily doses of drugs valued at 325 900 000 $ (big) and weighing 5.8 million pounds.
